Description

Doors are the anticipation of a meeting, an exam, a permit; they’re an agent of waiting, selection, inclusion and exclusion.
With A Brief Encyclopedia of Doors, we wish to tell about those portals – real or imaginary – that mark our lives.
The project is our answer to the call from Gorizia’s Artisti Associati on the theme of borders, and will premiere in the summer of 2025 at GO!2025 Nova Goriča – Gorizia European Capital of Culture.
At the very heart of compiling an encyclopedia lies the attempt to organize the world, to contain it and make it accessible, to embrace all that is knowledgeable, to confine the unconfined.
By translating into our physical theater this constant activity of gathering and organizing, of accumulating and compiling, we found its traces in waiting rooms, hallways, passages, and all the spaces where one awaits to cross a door.
There will always be an inevitable degree of approximation, selection and compromise between the world and an encyclopedia, just as there is between ourselves and society. This painful yet necessary boundary is the focus of our exploration.
The encyclopedia serves as a metaphor for how we perceive everyday life, with its accumulation of information and all the surreal pairings tragicomic dictated merely by the alphabetical order.

With this show I Gordi continue their journey in a choral, physical theatre linked to poetry, gesture and irony, which overcomes language barriers to produce living images for a national and international audience.
